Its heart breaking to see Indians lose in the dying moments of the game, this is happening for the ‘n’th time, not sure why this is not being addressed!

All the valiant efforts and spectacular displays got ruined in a minute, when we conceded a goal in the last minute...hmm horrible moment!

Dravid’s decision to bat second in the Mumbai test has proved ominous as India is struggling to avoid the defeat with just 2 wickets in hand.

Knowing all the facts and statistics in Mumbai not sure why Dravid chose to field first, so far he was impressive and this one has proved to be costly as England will level the series.

King of Kotla, Anil Kumble becomes the first among the Indians and the fifth bowler in the cricketing world to take 500 wickets.

Kumble is simply amazing, many say he does have the variety, turn, etcetera, etcetera; he had just silenced everyone on his way reaching this memorable milestone.

Kumble achieved this landmark in the Mohali test when he surprised the hulky Harimson with his flipper. In the process Kumble helped India beat England by 9 wickets to go up 1-0 in the TVS cup three test series, and also bagging the man of the match award.

Kumble is always a devastating bowler and the way he bowled in this test match was another treat to watch; especially the over he bowled to Flintoff who replaced Ian Bell was impeccable in line and length as the batsman had no clue of how the ball is behaving. Flintoff was totally off as he was comprehensively beaten 4 times in a span of 6 deliveries but he managed to live dangerously rather than his former Collingwood, who after few reprieves followed a Kumbles’ delivery to the safe hands of Dravid in the slips.

In almost all the major test wins for India, Kumble has played a significant role. He is the perfect fit to bowl in the Indian conditions, not even a Murali or Warne can do this here. It’s always going to wait, wait and watch for any loosener from Kumble; every single delivery is going to be lethal and the batsmen need hell out of concentration to negotiate an entire over, as Boycott puts it, “If I were batting against Kumble in India, I would just grab a single and get down to the other end as quickly as I could!”

Fondly called as Jumbo by teammates, Kumble holds a special place in my inspiration role models.

Little master Sachin silenced all the critics by hitting a 100, 42 & 95 respectively in the

first 3 ODI's of the ongoing series between India and Pakistan.

Many cricketing brains literally offended Sachin, one in particular was Moin Khan who

portrayed that Sachin's carrier was all over and he is counting his days...how dare he can

say that?

Sachin made him eat his words just by scoring a century in the very first one-dayer, gave a

grand start for the run chase in the second ODI with Shewag, and played a highly matured and

responsible innings of 95, so that Dhoni and Yuvraj can climb on the platform set...what

else he needs to show to show his presence???

The way he had handled the pressure in the last match was something treat to watch, the way

he negotiated the seaming deliveries, the way he kept scoring boundaries consistently to

keep the runrate, certainly the master alone can do it...

Hope Moin should shut his mouth hereafter and keeps praying all the time ...

The scores clearly depict the kind of pitch, not sure why Pakistan with more quickies goes for a flat track that too with the likes of Akthar, hmm, poor pitch preparation. Even for the series against England there was lot of critics about the pitch, this kinda pitch not even suitable for a one day match, poor bowlers! Anyways it has helped our explosive Shewag to find his touch, 247 at the strike rate of 102 something amazing which is only possible by Shewag.

The stage is set for the three tests Allianz series and the cricket fever grips Pakistan and India.

India will take on Pakistan tomorrow at Lahore for the first test. Though there are already hypes that Pakistan has slightly upper edge over India as they are more organized than the previous time, they should remember that India clinched the test series 2-1 and the and one day series 3-2 in 2004, and its tough to beat India as the team is more matured and looks pretty strong in all the departments. One extra Pakistan have is the advantage of the Rawalpindi express, Shoaib Akthar.

Today there was some interesting duels within contests listed in The Hindu, making one against one, which has put our ‘Wall Dravid’ against the ‘Speedster Shoaib’. In my view he (Shoaib) is the only threat to our batsmen, that too if the early overs are negotiated I don’t think its tough to handle him, apart from that the reverse swing might be in action, otherwise its going to be a normal bowling attack. It will be on how our batsmen are going to flare up. With the likes of Shewag, who can give the turbo-charged opening along with Gambir might even put Shoaib in tougher times. Then it’s going to be the Wall, that is highly impassable and they’re after our little master Sachin, whom I expect a lot in this series.

Other batsmen in the line should be ideally Yuvraj, to bolster the batting strength, but it seems Saurav might find his place in the team, undue pressure for Dravid to include him, that’s Indian Cricket.

Another great inspiring personality and fighter till death is Anil Kumble, the King of Kotla. Hope everyone of us remember this (Feroz Shah Kotla) is the place where Kumble reached the feat of taking the entire 10 wickets in an innings to provide India a thumping win over the Pakistanis.

Kumble spear headed the Indian attack again in the same grounds to devastate the Sri Lankans with some splendid, accurate bowling. He ended up capturing a total of 10 wickets helping India to beat the Sri Lankans comprehensively. His favorite hunting ground has earned him the name, “King of Kotla”.

Kumble also registered a world record in this test by holding on to Attapatu’s return catch, and become the only bowler to make maximum number of caught and bowled, which reads 25 as of now.

A big landmark was achieved by our Little Master Sachin, at the Feroz Shah Kotla grounds, Delhi, where India registered an authoritative victory defeating the Sri Lankans by a margin of 180 + runs.

Sachin made a well deserved hundred after quite a bit of hard work, his Century no 35, and currently this stands as the highest number of test centuries scored by anyone in the cricketing world. Earlier Gavaskar held this record for a long time with his 34 centuries.

In today’s world Sachin is the only cricketer to have crossed 10,000 runs in both forms of cricket, and I wish he breaks Lara’s record soon.

The selection committee continues the soap-opera again as they included Saurav Ganguly in the test team which he never deserves. At least for the one-dayers he can be a fit but no way for a test match and that too at the expense of a prime fast bowler like Zaheer Khan, is really unacceptable. We have many promising players currently and it’s an undue pressure on Dravid to include Ganguly, in the playing eleven.

What’s happening More? Either you succumbed to the external pressure or did you saw sufficient transaction in your account?

Today was another great run chase by the Indians, the whole team contributed to the win.
Dravid played a splendid innings and as usual the ‘wall’ executed his sheet anchor role, great going captain. Dhoni and Super Sub Suresh Raina finished the formalities.

What a run chase? You can’t imagine more than this . . .

Lankans would have thought the Indian innings is all over once the Little Master was gone, but they never knew the champion in the form of Dhoni.

What an innings under pressure! 15 boundaries and 10 sixes, Whack! Dhoni has used the poor Lankans in picking balls from the boundaries all the time.

What an amazing turn around for the Indian cricket team, whenever they are about to chase such high total, batting collapse is the best known feature man a times, but this time it’s a turn around.

Hope its not only the resurgence of Sachin alone, the whole Indian team has got some new spirits in it, is that because of the much awaited captaincy change? Saw something about the dress code in todays daily…

Not sure why there should be a dress code for college goers, agreed that a decent kind of dressing should be done, but having rules for that sake is really sad! Don’t know from where these people get this controlling attitude!!

Coming to the part of IT companies (including mine) many have formal dress code, Client visit being the rationale behind. Though the client never insists on any formal code we Indians ourselves put a ring around us and assume client needs this type of environment. But I have seen practically many clients who visit the work place come in a way that is comfortable to them, but the work horses whether they are comfortable or not should follow dress code, really unjustifiable!

People should be responsible and see that they dress in a decent way, nothing much can be done about that. Few rule breakers will be always present!

Again the Aussies registered a thumping victory over the World XI in the 6 test match proving they are the real champions!

Many times people compare Lara vs Sachin, Lara has played totally 5 innings in this Johny Walker Super Series, his highest score being 36 and the total runs in the whole of the series must come around 50 odds runs. I bet if Sachin has played in this series there would have been a marked difference in the World XI performance, and for sure there might have been a couple of 100’s from the little master. Spinners in the form of Warne and MacGill, well I don’t think they are a threat to Sachin. At least, now people should not compare Sachin with Lara, Sachin is the greatest !!!

Many consider the Australian cricket team as the professional cricket team around the world and yes they stand by that. It was yet again a spectacular show in the tri-series against the World XI. The standards and the quality game set by them is hard for any of the contemporary team to achieve.

The 30 year old, Mike Hussey is the latest sensation for Australia, proving to be successful in almost all the matches he had played so far. He along with Watson showed some stunning batting performance to post a huge total for the World XI to chase in the 3rd match and final match.

Australians had convincing victories in all the three matches in the ICC Johnnie Walker ODI Super Series played in the indoor stadium, Telstra Dome, Melbourne. Many hoardings in the stadium showed “The world is not enough”.

Just imagine the state of Greg among the bunch of jokers in the BCCI, who are trying to save Saurav...anyways they succeeded in that!

First the board should inform about the responsibilities of the coach, where he can decide and where he can’t peek in, especially the selection of the team, which is purely done on the wish of board members and also the captain if he belongs to the selectors arena. If Greg was clearly instructed about this, I guess he might have reconsidered his decision of being the Indian coach.

The statement made by Wright the former coach is just a mockery. If Greg feels Saurav is unfit he can only say unfit, and it’s a universal truth. I don’t know how Wright feels Greg can compromise on that, and that too when we have a much better player in the form of Kaif, I am not sure how Kaif’s rejection to the test squad can be justified.

Think of what happened in the England team, Nassir Hussain eventually retired because he felt he was blocking the emerging talent, Andrew Strauss. Is that not a gentleman’s act?

Vikram Solanki of England becomes the first man to be the super substitute in the cricket history! He replaced Simon Jones who did his best in bowling his quota of 10 overs as the new rules are in put in trial for a 10-month period starting from this July.

ICC will try out the two new set of rules - substitution and field restrictions (20 overs split into 2 slots of 10 overs, 2nd 10 can be used in 2 five slots) in the England - Australia one-day series.

Already most of the teams have increased their batting depth upto No 7, as most of the time batsmen dominate the bowlers. Again this new rule is going to add more burdens to the bowlers, as the batting depth further increases when a Pinch hitter replaces the tail ender when the balls fell short of te required runs. Anyway, Specialist bowlers like Murali or Kumble might prove to be killers as their bowling economy will be equally matched by Specialist Hitters. I assume the 12th man hereafter will be a Specialist, no bits and pieces batsman/bowler. Good ploy by ICC, sounds really interesting.

May be this is the time where coaches might play a big role in helping the captain, lets see what's that the strategy that will be devised for our Indian team, Greg what’s the difference you are going to make? Are you going to replace Kumble with Shewag?

World Environment day, great to hear that we have a day like this, well when we have special days for many nonsense activities, we should be happy that there is a day that reminds us about our surroundings and the need to preserve the nature. Now does observing a day like this makes some impact? Definitely yes.

It came as a treat, when I heard the news that our Central Government has decided to ban depiction of smoking in films. I am proud to say that our Motherland India is the first country in the world to do this; well as a non-smoker I love this decision. Though already rules are there to prevent smoking in public places, no one is following them.

" I think it is a good move to ban smoking scenes. Because as actors, we do have a social responsibility and I already feel bad about the damage I've caused by smoking in my earlier films," says Suryia one of my favorite actor.

It’s a sad fact to see teenage gals smoking, in my opinion, comparing males, gals are supposed to highly risk the to be born kids with a high cancer rate. They should realize that spoiling an innocent child is no way their right though they bear their offspring.

Well this is going on and around smoking, let us track back to the subject. Everyone one of us need a Cleaner place to live in, so why not we make our living places greener and cleaner, in turn we help the city in which we live greener and in turn the whole world.

Let us Save the Trees & the Earth for the coming generations !

At last some salvage pride for the Indians, after being clearly outclassed (all the departments) in the on going Azlan Shan Hockey tournament, Kuala Lumpur.

Host Malaysia, well at least in my view is not a formidable team, but the home advantage or something else has been working their way when the beat India 4-1 in the league matches. Later on they drew with Australia and the surprising news came when they outclassed the legendary Pakistan.

In a small tournament comprising of one or two good teams India got the fifth place, well at least they secured that place, hmm, a win at last, should we feel proud of that?

Well Mr KPS Gill its time to do something different!

It’s a sad story story for us, the same country that produced hockey wizard's like Dhyan Chand, suffers continuous defeats. Well I assume our Indian hockey team is paying their tribute to the legend.

India's remote sensing satellite CARTOSAT-1 was today succesfully placed in orbit, 18 minutes after the PSLV-C6 carrying it lifted off from here.Thirty seconds later, the PSLV-C6 also placed the HAMSAT in orbit.

ISRO announced that the satellites have been "succesfully" placed into the orbit.

The PSLV-C6, the 295 tonnes and 44.4 metres tall workhorse launch vehicle of ISRO, lifted off at 10.14 a.m. It will place the satellites into a 618 kms Polar Sun Synchronous Orbit (SSO).

President A P J Abdul Kalam, who had dedicated the launch pad to the nation yesterday, watched the launch.

A small gal without noticing the huge goods carrying lorry crosses the road, which has no medians. It all happens so fast that, the heavy vehicle’s front wheels cross the gal in such a way that she is exactly beneath the vehicle but safe, walking in between two wheels, i.e., along the center breadth wise. I along with many people who are invisible, shout at the driver, ”hey stop, hey, hey”, but the driver takes this as the opportunity to show his precision of driving by slowly moving the lorry with few twists and turns such that the gal is always walking parallel to the wheels.

At one stage when the gal is close to the viewable left side wheel I yell desperately for stopping the lorry, holding another kid, the cute brother of the gal on risk walk. The vehicle halts and the mother of the two kids comes and feels the anguish that she was not aware of the happenings. She wants to say something …

and after this I am sorry not able to remember what happened thereafter, I woke up, the dream ended.

In spite of any kind of humanity / hostility shown to him, a ruthless martinet like Musharraff is never going to change his attitude. He is going to make his Pakistani people fight against India till he dies or gets dethroned. IMO, its sheer waste of money and time to invite that hoodlum to India.

Hope most of us remember the amount of money spent and luxuries done for him during his last visit in 2001, I consider that as a blunder(just to gain political advantage) by Vajpayee the prime minister then, the India - Pak summit went useless. It was only advantage for Musharraff to visit historical places in India at free of cost.

The cunning fellow will be in India today to watch the Sunday match between India and Pakistan. Who on earth is bothered if he is not watching the match? Even though he had shown his interest in the match he should have been denied the VISA to enter India as US did for Modi, the Gujarat Chief Minister.

It's a mockery that cricket will serve to create peace between the two countries. Every time India plays Pakistan people here see that as a war and never assume that as a game.

He needs to get out of this awkward situation; the media, experts, cricket followers everyone now are supporting to dethrone saurav ganguly and want âThe Wallâ, Dravid to take charge of the captaincy.

Yes I agree Ganguly is mentally strong and capable of striking back, but a break is of more important to him now.

Sachin's recent century proves to be an ominous sign for the Pakistanis!

The Legend formulated the lost arrogance in the game yesterday with his lusty blows - down the track, reverse sweeps, slog sweeps, its was pretty much evident that he wanted to dominate every Pakistani bowler and eventually succeeded in that and his innings was a treat to watch.

He went on to score 124; his consistency was tested a bit in few of the matches, and went without a century for the last 16 matches, which is very uncommon in Sachin's career. Terri Schiavo's family misery become a national spectacle near the end of October 2003 when the Supreme court ordered to reinsert the feeding tube against the wishes of her husband.

There were many reports about the million-dollar malpractice settlement done by Schiavo's husband and also in another angle against Schiavo's parents who wanted Schiavo to live so that they get the money . . . well the truth, GOD only knows . . . its horrible and quite devasting for any family to bear such a situation.

The judicial and legislative battles to disconnect her feeding tube generated tremendous media coverage during the last two weeks of her life, Euthanasia, Bioethics, legal guardianship, federalism, civil rights, etc., were on hot and fierce debate then.

Considering the case, i would say its a 50 / 50 chance. Though doctors ruled out any possibility of Sciavo returning back to normal life, miracles do happen. CNN.com reports of a Baby born while mother was in coma, now a normal toddler.

But with the technological advancements there is every chance for the doctors to predict the exact happening.

Though its not morally correct to take away someone's life, while reading the book "Doctors" by Erich Segal, you would definetly appreciate how Euthanasia would be the best bet at times. Seth Lazarus was supposed to be, GOD for many downed souls whose beloved were caught in between life and death.

I wish this kinda thing never happens to someone else in the future !

On March 31, 2005 at approximately 9.05am, Terri Schindler-Schiavo lost her nearly 14 day struggle against starvation and dehydration and died at the Hospice Woodside in Pinellas Park, Florida.

US denies Visa to Modi !

There were many arguments going on about the denial of Visa by the US for Modi, the (honorable?) CM of Gujarat, India.

Many were saying that few Israeli, Pakistani, Chinese leaders are there who have done less or reasonable for human rights violation were granted Visa, and in fact all quoted about the abuses in the Abu Ghraib prison over Iraqi Prisoners and by no means the Bush Government can talk about human right violation.

Also few of my colleagues pointed out that denying Visa for a democratically elected leader, is not a correct act.

Well am not going to discuss whether the denial was a correct move or not but Modi deserves such a humiliation. I can no way imagine him as a leader that too a democratic !

Everyone here in India watched the happenings in Gujarat, whether it may be Muslims or Hindus, many were killed and the riots happened in Gujarat were unforgettable. Being a destructor himself i dont find a validity in his quote, portraying his individual denial to country's insult. Further to add up, his party is backing him very much.

Hyderabad Sultans win inaugural PHL

Thought of posting it long back, procrastnation, what else, anyways its here...

It was a great sign when the hockey federation thought about conducting the PHL (Premier Hockey League), and I think the move made by KPS Gill and the hockey management proved to be a great success.

Our national game atleast gets some recognition among us and this tournament has proved simply great.

In my view,

Team names based on their places,
High sponsorship,
ESPN-STAR's promotional activity,
Foreign players including Pakistani star players,
NBA's forumula of 4 quarters, etc.,

were major highlights of this tournament.

All the teams showed great spirits and the standard of game was really good.

I was very much impressed with the team names, it was traditional, flamboyant, regional, fulminatory, i have listed the names here,

Sher-e-Jalandhar,
Chennai Veerans,
Hyderabad Sultans,
Maratha Warriors,
Bangalore Hi-Fliers

Our Chennai Veerans proved less efficient, only the coach seemed to be in high pressure all the time whenever they played. Hyderabad Sultans won the glittering trophy and a cheque of Rs.3 million overcoming, Sher-e-Jalandhar 2-1 in the finals.
